It is just one of our many efforts to aid our nations veterans. By shopping in our store you are supporting our nations homeless veterans because all of our proceeds go directly to the Michigans Veterans Foundation. We are a non-profit agency committed to providing services to Michigan's homeless veterans. Read more about our programs below.
The Michigan Veterans Foundation operates the Detroit Veterans Center. The DVC is a multi-faceted facility that addresses the needs of homeless veterans by filling the gaps in the current service delivery system. In addition to operating a safe and structured transitional housing facility, we work in collaboration with a multitude of human service providers, non-profit organizations, and govermental agenicies to meet the veterans medical, psychological, and educational needs. The DVC project is structured to serve veterans who want to help themselves. It is available to any veteran who is willing and able to make the commitment to change their life for the better. To be eligible for acceptance, the veteran must be drug and alcohol free.
The Michigan Veterans Foundation has been asked to expand its services to serveral other cities in Michigan and currently has plans to open facilities strategically located throughout the state.
In partnership with the MVF are our affiliates Living Wheels. Living Wheels is Michigans newest car donation program. Living Wheels provides affordable transportation to qualified low income individuals at a sale price significantly below fair market value. MVF accepts vehicle donations, all of which receive fair market value as a deduction on a federal income tax return. To learn more about Living Wheels click on 'Links' under our navigation menu.
YOU can give a gift to help the homeless veterans in Michigan by shopping in our online bookstore or by making a donation! Michigan residents can claim the Michigan Homeless Assistance Credit for their donation, please send us an email for more information. You can make a donation by clicking on the catagory Donation in the Browse By Catagory link on our home page, and adding a 'Donation' to your shopping cart at set donation prices of $1-$500.
